In the name of God Amen, I Matthew Strickland of the state and District aftersaid being weake in body but of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding praise be God for the same do make this my last will and Testament in manner and form viz..Item 1. It is my will that my negroe man Bryant and negroe woman Patty and negroe girl Jude with their future increases together with one Sorrel horse called Jack and one Bay filly as also all my stock of hogs as also my stock of cattle not hearein after disposed of as also my stock of Sheep that are not here in after disposed of also all my household and Kitchen furniture Together with all my plantation tools and intire implements of husbandry also my Still and two guns also the use of the plantation on which I now live and the use of a field on a Branch called Ready to be to the use of my wife Jerusah Strickland during her natureal life as also for the support and Education of my infant children the above property to be kept together and the disposial of and controle of my wife Jerusha during her natural life but should my wife die before my son Arnold G. Strickland shall attain the age of twenty one yeares then my Executor to take the above property and apply the income of the same to the useof supporting and Educating my children aftoresaid and it is my will that on the death of my wife Jerusha provided that my son Arnold G. is then twenty one years old if not when he shall attain to that age that my negroes viz Bryant Patty and Jude with their future increas together with all the above mentioned property that may then remain be devided among my children in manner and form following viz that Bryant be equally divided between my Daughters Syntha Floyd and Jerusha Anderson or in case of their death to their children the shear that would have fallen to their mother, and the first child that Patty shall now hereafter have to be given to my son Matthew W. Strickland and Patty with all future increases - except the first child above excepted to my daughter Adah Strickland and the negroe girl Jude with all her future increases to my Daughter Mantha Strickland and it is futher my will that the stock of every kind plantation tooles household and kitchen furniture that shall then remain as also my still and guns be Equally divided between my sones Willaim R. Everet P. and Aronold G. Strickland.

Item 2nd. I give and bequeath unto my son Matthew Strickland all my part of one thousand acres of land being an undivided tract of the Estate of William Strickland Sr. Desd also one Bay horse called Britton also two cows and calves one feather Bed and furniture and four head of sheep which property has already delivered.

Item 3rd. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Syntha Floyd two cows and calves one feather Bed and furniture and four head of sheep which property has been already delivered.

Item 4th. I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Jerusha Anderson two cows and calves one feather bed and furniture and five head of sheep which property has been already delivered.

Item 5th. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mantha Strickland two cows and calves one feather bed and furniture and four head of sheep which property has not been delivered.

Item 6th. I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Adah Strickland two cows and calves one feather bed and furniture and four head of sheep which property has not been delivered.

Item 7th. I give and bequeath unto my son William R. Strickland five hundred and seventy six acres of land being part of two tracts as is represented in a plat made out for him Thos. Beaty also one Bay mair and two cows and calfs which property has been already delivered.

Item 8th. I give and bequeath unto my son Evrat P Strickland two cows and calfs and on his arival to the age of twenty one years five hundred and fifty acres of land being part of two tracts as plated out for him by T. W. Beaty also one horse called Jack and one rifle gun.

Item 9th. I give and bequeath unto my son Arnold G. Strickland two cows and calfs and on his ariving to the age of twenty one year. (But should my wife Jerusha then be living not untill her death) the plantation tract of land on which I now live containing five hundred and thirty acres also a part of a tract or tracts of land on a Branch called Ready the line to comence at a pine near the Road and runing down Ready on the south side to the line of the Nicholes Land then on said lines to honey camp swamp then up said swamp to the line of the original tract of Wm. Strickland sr. Land and then the line of said tract to a line marked out for Hugh Stevens then S.(d) Stevens line back to the mentioned plantation tract containing two hundred acres more or lefts & shotgun & Still & one mair and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my wife Jerusha Strickland Executrix and Matthew W Strickland Executor of this my last will and testament revoking all other will or wills by me here tofore made do declare this to be my Last will and testament in witnefs where of I have here unto set my hand and seal this 14th day of February1846.

Signed sealed and acknowledged to be his last will and testament in presence of us who at his request and in his presence hath Subscribed our names as witnefses here to the word & shotgun interlined before signed also the word still intrelined before signed.

Contributed on Friday, January 22, 1999 by James E. Strickland. Matthew Strickland was born Abt 1785, Died May 22, 1847. He married Jerusha Chestnut on March 3, 1809. Jersuha was born abt 1788 and died abt 1875. She was the daughter of Robert Chestnut, Born abt 1755, died November 1811. Her mother is unknown.
